YCCIC is based at Yukon College, a ten-minute drive from downtown Whitehorse and Whitehorse International Airport. YCCIC researchers and partners can reserve office space and college facilities in advance.

  • YCCIC workspaces include desk, phone, fax, Internet, printer and networked computers;
  • Computer specs: Dell Optiplex 755s, Intel E4500 Dual Core processors, 2GB RAM, 160GB SATA hard drives, DVD burners, Windows XP SP3 and MS Office 2003;
  • Meeting rooms, lecture halls, special event capabilities, A/V presentation tools, video and teleconferencing; and
  • College amenities (parking, cafeteria, bookstore).

Gyroscopic Surveying

Gyroscopic survey instrument developed for the mining industry that determines the trajectory of a borehole. The mining industry needed non-magnetically oriented survey equipment that can be lowered into boreholes. Whitehorse-based Icefield Tools Corp. developed a gyroscopically oriented borehole survey tool that is cost-competitive and easy to use. more
